Goals and perspectives

ESU 2017 Toulouse

What is the European Summer University?
- A meeting between European movements where we can learn from each other,
- an opportunity to coordinate European struggles and campaigns,
- a chance to build up knowledge and skills we need to fight for a better world, and
- a moment to celebrate together, to inspire and motivate each other, and to create a culture of resistance that drives sustainable change.

Who will attend the ESU?
Progressive activists* from all across Europe who are committed putting the interests of people and our planet ahead of profit interests. Attac has been organizing regular European Summer Universities for a number of years, and certainly many of our members will be attending - along with activists* from other organizations involved, and anyone else interested. Summer 2022 might be the first opportunity for a broad public meeting of European movements after the coronavirus pandemic, and we expect a lot of interest.

How can your organization get involved?
Although Attac organizations of many countries have initiated the process of organizing this event and will be doing much of the practical work to make it happen, we have already involved a number of other emancipatory movement organizations and are trying to recruit more.
We warmly invite other organizations to get involved in shaping the event, including by participating in the European organizing meetings (both online and in person), and supporting the process to make the event a success.
However, we realize that different organizations have different, very specific capacities of getzing involved. We are also happy if you spread the word about the event and encourage supporters to participate  without getting involved into practical organization.
