Housing and land - Eldorado of capital exploitation

The forum focuses on the current housing and land policy problems and their main causes. The locally and nationally different problems range from drastic deficits in affordable housing and unsustainable mortgage interest rates for homeowners to the displacement of long-established tenants and rising numbers of homeless people, especially in the conurbations and economically attractive medium-sized and university cities. The main causes are private ownership of land, the current low-interest phase, the financialisation of the real estate sector and its increasing relevance for the exploitation interests of investors and capital investors, as well as the investor-oriented policies of the public sector and the privatisation of public housing stocks.
